Does anyone else get a little grossed out every time you read the word splurge. I mean, there has to be a better ‘clever’ way to categorize the expensive from the cheap than splurge vs. steal. There HAS to be.
Agreed.

The production and arrangements evoke a narrow window of time—sometime between, say, 1977 and 1984, or between Chuck Mangione’s “Feels So Good” and Sade’s Diamond Life with stops along the way for Roxy Music’s Avalon and Steely Dan’s Gaucho. It slides between soft rock, smooth jazz, and new romantic pop.
Destroyer goes soft rock? Brain. Exploded. -
In 1991, economists were predicting that Japan would overtake the United States as the world’s largest economy by 2010. In fact, Japan’s economy remains the same size it was then: a gross domestic product of $5.7 trillion at current exchange rates. During the same period, the United States economy doubled in size to $14.7 trillion, and this year China overtook Japan to become the world’s No. 2 economy.

For security reasons she would not allow his name to be published.
I could be reading this wrong since I’m on my lunch break and don’t have much time, but is this a typo or purposeful mix-up to protect source’s identity?

JFK debriefed at NASA’s KSC, Sept. 11, 1962. Love the the oh-so-’60s saturated teal of that coffee pot—this almost looks like a paint-by-numbers.
(From cache of vintage NASA photos, new from the agency on Flickr. h/t @pourmecoffee)
Today in things we like: vintage NASA photos, and, of course, vintage kitchenware.
People, places and things looked like this once upon a time.

This video makes my all-things-anthropomorphic-loving heart go beep beep. Somewhere, my plastic Hawaiian lei (just in case) is strangling my black feather boa (prom ‘97) as my moldy, stinky volleyball knee pads (you never know) and Groucho Marx costume (duh) look on. (Via Etsy.)

Well, everyone needs to bawl their eyes out once a day, right?
A beautiful, true, bittersweet tale of growing old together. If this doesn’t tug at ye olde heartstrings, it’s probably because you are heartless. Which begs the question: what is a robot doing reading my tumblr?
